Atlantic Data Ltd provides this Disclosures service to Atlantic Data LTD - Demo under the terms of a licence agreement.
To help determine an applicant's suitability for certain positions, Atlantic Data LTD - Demo is entitled to ask its applicants an exempted question under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. That means a question regarding their criminal record, including spent and unspent convictions.
This Disclosures service is designed to support Atlantic Data LTD - Demo in its recruitment and safeguarding by enabling them to submit criminal record disclosure applications to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Disclosure Scotland and/or AccessNI as appropriate.
The following information is provided to assist those using this service.
Processing personal data
Data protection legislation provides that personal information, such as the applicant's information processed using this Disclosures service, must be processed in accordance with some key principles.
When processing personal information, the data must be:
- processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner
- processed for a specified purpose
- limited to what is necessary for the purpose
- accurate and kept up to date, if necessary
- kept for no longer than is necessary
- protected against unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction or damage
We process applicant information for the purpose of submitting a criminal record disclosure application. The Disclosures system requests only personal information that is required for that purpose. We will retain disclosure information and other personal information for no longer than necessary.
Further information about the use, retention and storage of their personal information is provided to the applicant as part of the process. Applicants also have access to information about their rights according to data protection legislation.
Responsibility for the personal data
Atlantic Data LTD - Demo is the 'Data Controller' with regard to data processed using this service and as such is responsible for any personal data entered using this service. DBS applications are processed on behalf of its clients by Atlantic Data Ltd, in accordance with the data protection legislation and the DBS Code of Practice.
